Demographic changes can be a challenge, but also an opportunity for successful change management in society and business! Mercedes Benz addressed the increasing seniority in the working population in its strategy project “Ey Alter”, which showed the positive synergies of cross-generational cooperation. We translated this directly and live in an exhibition concept full of entertaining contrasts that celebrated diversity: Hipster meeting Silver Surfer, experience meeting the joy of experimentation.
The majority of the population fears demographic change and Mercedes-Benz sees opportunities in it. Opportunities to shape change positively and to look for solutions rather than ways out. No professional siding, but focusing on strengths and combining them. In short: young and experienced employees come together, form teams, complement each other. The EY ALTER exhibition is part of Daimler’s demography initiative YES (Young and Experienced together Successful) and creates an interactive world in which guests deal with age and potential.
After the successful launch of the exhibition in 2015 at the Universum in Bremen, we were able to open EY ALTER a year later at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart and set the mood for the exhibition’s themes. Provocative, courageous and above all unconventional. In terms of media, scenography, music and cuisine, the guests were treated to a whimsical and ironic programme of contrasts. DJ Mirko Machine and DJ Grammophon played back 2 back, beatbox met orchestra, street art met still life, Biedermeier met Pac-Man, mustard party met molecular cuisine and crocheted blanket met high gloss. Mercedes, thank you for your courage and keep up the good work, we are getting older too.
